2024 Outlook: Major themes for the global and Canadian economies

January 18, 2024 3:00 PM to 5:00 PMMarriott Downtown, Calgary, Alberta
Area of Interest: Pensions, Investments, Networking Format: In Person

Please join us on January 18, 2024 at the Marriott Downtown for an afternoon presentation, followed by a networking social.

This presentation will outline the major themes we expect to see unfolding over the course of 2024. In particular, we’ll look at why we expect to see weak and desynchronized economic growth across major regions, with a particular focus on Canada; why inflationary pressures are abating, provide a framework for how we think about central banking decisions over the year… and talk about where we see the most uncertainty in our forecasts.

Learning objectives:

  • Learn about broad macroeconomic themes that should shape 2024
  • Provide a lens through which to look at central bank reaction functions
  • Understand some particular challenges regarding the Canadian economy
  • Get a feel for where lie the areas of greater uncertainty
