This session will explore the entire journey of plan members within group benefits programs, outlining the various stages and touchpoints that members encounter, illustrated by a case study on the implementation of a weight management program. Attendees will gain valuable insights into drug trends and the drug development pipeline in the weight management field.


Jeff is the AVP of Chronic Disease Management an ePharmacy at Sun Life and has worked in the digital health space for the last 5 years. Jeff’s mandate is focused on improving health outcomes for members and Canadians at large. Having launched Sun Life’s ePharmacy solution and having built the first chronic disease management journeys in diabetes and respiratory, Jeff is well-versed in developing offerings that aim to improve health outcomes.

Alexandra Smith

Alex is the Director of ePharmacy at Sun Life and has worked in the digital health space for the last 7 years. Having launched one of the early ePharmacies in Canada, she has in-depth knowledge of ePharmacies from a technology and clinical perspective and has experienced firsthand how the digital model has been changing the status quo as it relates to accessing care in Canada.

As Strategic Leader, Drug Programs, Erika Hatherly plays a key role in optimizing our overall drug management approach, and in communicating our service offering to our clients and financial partners across Canada.

A pharmacist by profession, she brings over 10 years of practical experience from her tenure in various clinical settings. Her proven expertise in developing drug benefits strategy and analyzing coverage policies enables her to provide insightful guidance with respect to current and future reimbursement trends in the Canadian landscape.

Erika is a Doctor of Pharmacy graduate from the University of Waterloo, and she continues to practice pharmacy in Ontario.
