CPBI Manitoba presents an advanced program in Pension Administration Fundamentals. The program is comprised of 6 modules, featuring some of the industry's most prominent pension professionals.
 

Overview:

This program is recommended for professionals working in the pension adminstration field for at least a year or more. This is an opportunity to enhance your skills and learn about best practices in the administration of registered pension plans.

Who Should Attend: 

Pension plan sponsors or trustees, pension committee members, actuary, plan administrators, consultants, or human resource professionals.

Continuing Education 

At the end of each module, you will be prompted to complete a short quiz. A cumulative passing grade of 70% is required in order to receive your certificate of completion and proof of CE credits. This program is elligible for 6 CE credits with the Institute of Advanced Financial Education and the Insurance Council of Saskatchewan. 


PROGRAM

Module 1 - Privacy and Legal Update:

Privacy, Cyber and other Pension Legal Updates - What are the challenges and how are these being addressed?  This module will look at legislative, regulatory and case law developments in several Canadian jurisdictions, and provide insight into what may lie ahead.

 

Modeule 2 -  Q&A with the Regulator:

Attendees will have the opportunity to submit questions in advance of the session for presenters to review and answer during the session. Questions that are plan specific will not be answered.

PLEASE NOTE: This module will not be recorded and therefore will not be available to view on-demand. PLEASE PLAN TO ATTEND AND TAKE NOTES AS NEEDED.

Module 3- Retirement Income Products, Accumulation/Decumulation :

This session will provide an overview of retirement income products (accumulation/decumulation) including RRSP, LIRAs, LIFs, RIFs and PRIFs and recent legislative changes that affect how plan members can access retirement income from these products.

Module 4- Technology - How Covid had Changed the Workplace:

Insight into how the pandemic expedited the use and reliance on technology and how can we continue to make technology our friend in the workplace and servicing our clients.  

Module 5 -  Relationship Breakdowns:

Marriage/relationship breakdowns are challenging and unique. This module will discuss the recent changes to pension legislation dealing with these difficult situations.

Module 6 - Pension Admin Potpourri:

This module will address some best practices to help promote better and more efficient administration of pension benefits.
