If you have advanced working knowledge of electronic payroll systems that incorporate multiple employee groups, union agreements and organizations, this role with Brockville General Hospital (BGH) is a great opportunity to combine your leadership skills and payroll expertise.

Working as a member of the People Services team, under the direction of the Director, People Services, you will coordinate the central scheduling function and payroll processing for Brockville General Hospital, and liaise with multiple outside agencies regarding payroll processing. Attention to detail at the highest level is required in order to ensure the accurate payment of over 1,600 employees and $70 million in salaries and wages.

As Payroll and Scheduling Supervisor, you will not only be accountable for the day-to-day administration of payroll and scheduling services, but also work with the Director of People Services to develop and implement People Services plans to meet the Hospital’s strategic objectives and mission. Additionally, in this key role, you will act as the HRIS system coordinator for the People Services functionality of the software being used at BGH.


To be considered for the role of Payroll and Scheduling Supervisor, you must thrive in a complex, changing environment and possess:

A three-year college diploma or university degree in business administration, human resources or accounting.
Payroll Compliance Practitioner designation from the Canadian Payroll Association, and continue to meet the ongoing professional development requirements of the Canadian Payroll Association.
Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) certification, preferred.
Certified Human Resources Leader designation, preferred.
A minimum of three (3) years of progressive experience working with computerized financial applications, including automated payroll software.
Advanced knowledge of Canadian payroll standards and practices, with experience in applying them in a complex payroll environment.
Advanced knowledge of, and experience with, business software tools, including Excel, Crystal Reporting, SQL-based reporting, Word, PowerPoint, and computerized payroll software.
Effective written and oral communications skills.
A high level of organizational skills to meet deadlines.
Advanced payroll studies and knowledge, to establish and enhance security and accuracy of payroll in a complex and ever-changing environment.
Demonstrated interprofessional leadership skills.
Demonstrated superior interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated ability for independent action, initiative, problem-solving, organization and prioritization.


Experience in a not-for-profit or healthcare environment.
