Director, Workplace Health and Safety Operations
$92,700.24 to $123,200.20 annually

 

The Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) division within the BC Public Service Agency (PSA) plays a lead role in advancing health and safety practices and delivering workforce health and safety services across the BC Public Service. 


The Director, Workplace Health and Safety Operations provides leadership in workforce health and safety planning and shaping the operational support the division provides to ministries facing growing complexity and increasing demand to build safety and health into workforce operations. 

By supporting successful Ministry operations throughout the pandemic PSA has demonstrated the business value in proactive safety and health management, including proactive approaches to mental health.  A key deliverable in this role is to develop strategies that embed and expand these practices and the health and safety engagement by leaders to achieve sustained results creating a more resilient, healthy and engaged workforce.

Requirements:

Qualifications for this role include:

  • A degree in Public Health or Health Promotion or a diploma in Occupational Safety or holds a Canadian Registered Safety Professionals (CRSP) Certification; and a minimum of five years’ progressive relevant experience in safety or workplace health programming; OR
  • A degree in Public Administration and 7 years’ progressive relevant experience in safety or workplace health programming.
  • Minimum of five years’ experience in operations including leading and organizing complex projects with a demonstrated ability to effectively manage and meet timelines for concurrent projects.
  • Experience using population and program performance data to plan strategies create program goals, objectives, and performance measures.
  • Experience leading teams and resolving complex staff and/or client issues in person and working virtually.
  • Experience managing a portfolio of clients in a customer service environment.
