Senior Communications Specialist

(Permanent Full-Time Position)

As a valuable member of the Stakeholder Relations team, the Senior Communications Specialist is responsible for managing, developing, implementing and monitoring comprehensive, integrated communication, education and engagement strategies and campaigns using a variety of digital, face-to-face, and print media to build and enhance SHEPP’s brand. As the senior technical person on the team, you will oversee the strategic communication activities of important stakeholders, including SHEPP members, pensioners, participating employers and SHEPP employees. This position will manage our digital communication channels and presence, including planning content, training contributors, establishing editorial calendars and guidelines, tracking metrics and making recommendations. You will also provide direction and guidance to other Stakeholder Relations team members, including peer review and approval and be responsible for providing accurate, timely, helpful and approachable service in your day-to-day activities.

Requirements:

Qualified candidates will possess a post-secondary degree or diploma in communications, public relations, marketing, English, journalism or other related discipline, supplemented by five or more years of progressively responsible experience. An International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) or Canadian Public Relations Society (CPRS) professional designation would be considered an asset.

To succeed, you will have experience developing and executing communications strategies and plans, including campaigns to engage diverse audiences; and thorough knowledge of digital communications strategies. You will enjoy working in a fast-paced, multi-level, project-based environment with emphasis on timelines and delivery and have experience in public speaking with a proven ability to communicate complex topics in a meaningful and understandable way and a team leadership or advisory role. You will also be proficient in English with excellent writing, presentation and research skills. 


Salary Range:     $89,036 to $111,295 (based on qualifications and skills)
