Description:

We are currently seeking a professional dedicated individual to join our team as a full time, permanent Pension Administration Specialist.

  • Understands and maintains up to date knowledge of pension rules, policies, procedures, system requirements, terminology and other information related to provisions of defined benefit pension administration services.
  • Daily maintenance and validation of data, forms and administrative procedures.
  • Prepare accurate and complete pension benefit calculations in accordance with plan documents and administrative policies and procedures.
  • Conducts peer reviews of calculations performed by team members to ensure calculations meet the test of reasonableness and accompanying documentation is accurate and follows applicable legislation and procedures.
  • Respond to members’ and employers’ requests verbally and in writing with accuracy and in a timely fashion.
  • Provide support to team members as well as all other departments in our organization.
  • Annual review of actuarial factors provided by the actuary including modification and testing of the in-house system.
  • Review, validate and reconcile annual year end data for each employer.
  • Assist with modifications to information technology systems, and department processes and procedures, to improve the efficient delivery of plan benefits.
  • Preparation and presentation of webinars to employers.
  • Perform other projects or tasks as assigned.
Requirements:

Education:

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma, preferably with a focus on business, actuarial science or mathematics and a minimum of two years of related experience; an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) or Pension Plan Administration Certificate (PPAC) designation is an asset.

Qualifications:

  • Understanding and knowledge of Pension Benefits Act (PBA of Manitoba) and Income Tax Act (ITA), and how these legislations relate to Defined Benefit pension programs and insurance benefits.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and Word are essential.
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written are required.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to quality of work and accountability is critical.
  • The ability to multi-task and prioritize workload to meet specific deadlines.
  • Dedicated team player, who demonstrates initiative and independence.
