Opportunity

We are currently seeking an enthusiastic Director, Pension Services to join our dynamic, team-oriented organization in Edmonton, Alberta.

Reporting to the Vice President, Pension Services, the Director, Pension Services has robust pension plan knowledge and experience and will oversee all pension services operations. The Director, Pension Services designs and delivers the Pension Services strategic and operational solutions necessary for ATRF to achieve its business objectives. The position oversees the development, implementation, and evaluation of Pension Services programs and services that result in exceptional plan member, employer, and stakeholder experiences.

Stakeholders

The Director works in collaboration with all areas of Pension Services to ensure service integration and operational excellence, as well as sustainable program implementation for the delivery of exceptional services to all plan members and employers. The Director maintains strong relationships across the organization, as well as external consultants and peer organizations for sharing information as appropriate. Providing strategic advice, consultation, and support to employees and leaders at all levels of the organization is critical to the role.

Responsibilities

This position is responsible for all operations related to Data & Employer Services and to Member Services, including education, outreach and counselling services. The Director leads a team of professionals that are providing accurate and timely calculations and processing of all member transactions, providing excellent client service by communicating with employers, plan members and other stakeholders, as well as data reporting, validation and analytics. The position will define, monitor and report on the quality, standards, priorities and timeliness of deliverables for the Pension Services department while reporting regularly to the Vice President, Pension Services.

In addition to managing and coaching the team and resolving complex situations, the Director is consulted as a resource and technical expert in all aspects related to pension fund operations, communication and administration.

Requirements:

  • Completion of a 4-year university degree in a relevant field
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressively more responsible roles in pension fund administration
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in leadership roles
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise influence at all levels
  • Well-honed business partnership skills 
  • Exceptional problem solving skills - able to support staff in determining root causes of complex issues and arriving at sound recommendations for resolution
  • Strong knowledge of pension administration practices and processes, pension plan rules and legislative framework
  • Demonstrated commitment to client service delivery and innovation
  • Adaptable and resilient, with the ability to build relationships
  • Strong analytical, strategic and organizational skills
  • Proven ability to lead effectively in team-based environments, as well as working independently on tasks, which require high levels of initiative, autonomy and independent thought and action
