To promote and sell all group product lines through ongoing relationship management with direct clients, major consulting houses, and the independent advisor network. Further, the Account Manager will maximize sales opportunities by using all distribution methods.  Develops, maintains and enhances ongoing positive relationships with existing group clients and advisors through the provision of quality service. Renews existing group plans and provides an annual experience review. Analyzes specifications, responds to RFPs, prepares proposals, participates and conducts presentations to existing group clients. Ensures all documentation is completed and enrollment is conducted.



  • Focuses primarily on reaching efficiencies to maximize time spent in sales and client retention activities.
  • Works with major consulting houses and the independent advisor network, including:
    • educating consultants, advisors and prospects about Manitoba Blue Cross, our plans, and way of doing business;
    • analyzing specifications received and preparing proposals on existing clients;
    • presenting proposals to the consultant, advisor and / or client;
    • identifying prospective additional product needs for existing group clients;
    • presenting proposals to the client or prospect;
    • ensuring all necessary help is provided to carry out the set-up of the plan with the consultant, advisor and /or client; and
    • ensuring all necessary internal synergies are provided to carry out the set-up of plan changes and/or additions with the client.
  • Renews existing Life, Disability, Health and Dental plans for assigned groups controlled by consultants and advisors, including the provision of experience and other data as required.
  • Renews existing Life, Disability, Health and Dental plans for assigned direct groups, including the provision of experience and other data as required.
  • Sells Life, Disability, Health and Dental plans to existing group clients, where warranted.
  • Directs the activities of the Group Service Representatives to maximize the ability to meet its sales targets and to ensure all renewals are done in a timely fashion; participates in the annual review process of the Group Service Representative and/or provides feedback to the Manager, Group Client Development for performance evaluation purposes.
  • Promotes and sells the Blue Cross Life Insurance products by:
    • promoting our new lines with the major consulting houses and the independent advisor network; and
    • meeting with existing clients to achieve an opportunity to quote on their Life and Disability benefits; and
  • Completes reports outlining activities as required by the Manager, Group Client Development including, but not limited to, weekly sales updates and defined account management plans.
  • Maintains records as required on all groups assigned.
  • Assists the Manager, Group Client Development, as required.
  • Ensures Manitoba Blue Cross is aware of its position in the marketplace at all times.


  • Dedicated to the principles of exceptional service; committed to responding to, anticipating and addressing customer needs, for both internal and external customers.
  • Completion of post-secondary education, preferably in Business or Commerce, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Preference will be given to individuals with prior experience as a group representative/employee benefits consultant and experience in marketing products through the advisor network.
  • Must be a self-starting, sales-minded individual that is prepared to prospect for new clients, using various lead-generating methods and tools.
  • Must have a sound working knowledge of Employee Benefit Plan design.
  • Must demonstrate strong skills in verbal and written communications, as well as excellent negotiation skills.
  • Must demonstrate professionalism and excellence in sales ability and presentation skills.
  • Must have strong analytical skills.
  • Must have initiative, with exceptional organizational skills and a proven record of managing and prioritizing multiple tasks within varied and dynamic timelines on an ongoing basis.
  • Must maintain a Manitoba Life License Level 2 (or Full Life License under new licensing requirements).
  • Strong working knowledge of office productivity tools, including Office 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams and PowerPoint).
  • A strong history of sales success would be a key asset.
  • Insurance industry designations such as FLMI, CEBS, and CLU may be considered an asset.
  • A good working knowledge of underwriting will be an asset.
  • Must have a reliable automobile not more than 5 years old, as per MBC policy.
