National Webinar - The Link Between Financial Literacy & Wellness

March 26, 2020 1:00 PM to 2:00 PMOnline - Eastern Time Zone
Area of Interest: Pensions Format: Web

What does wellness mean to you?

Wellness is often associated with diet, exercise or physical factors, while others take a more holistic approach and consider the interplay between physical health and mental well-being. However, mental and physical health is a result of one’s environment, inside and outside the physical body. External stress can be detrimental to personal wellness and the leading cause of stress in Canada is finances. Therefore, the three pillars of wellness are physical, mental and financial health. The synergy between the pillars constitutes an individual’s overall well-being.

Improved financial health is the key to improving personal wellness, and the most effective method is through incentive programs. People are motivated by rewards, and that initial motivation can lead to long-term change. The use of incentive programs designed to connect and appreciate participants’ intrinsic motivators is a valuable tool to promote financial health and to help them sustain lifelong health practices.

At the end of this webinar you will:

  • Understand the inextricable link between the three pillars of wellness: physical, mental and financial health
  • Recognize financial health as a leading cause of stress and its effect on overall well-being
  • Identify the impact of intrinsic motivators in inspiring financial literacy and health behaviour change
