Hot Topics in Drug Plan ManagementFebruary 15, 2017 7:30 AM to 9:00 AMRoyal Mayfair Golf and Country Club, Edmonton, Alberta Area of Interest: Benefits, Investments, Networking Format: In Person2016 saw two topics rise to the forefront of discussions surrounding drugs and their management on benefit plans in Alberta. Firstly, Canada is facing an opioid crisis with increasing rates of addictions, overdoses and deaths attributed to both prescription and illicit opioids. Secondly, a number of plan sponsors in the province have adopted maximum allowable cost pricing as an innovative cost management strategy to help sustain plan viability without sacrificing the health and wellness of plan members. In this session, Margaret Wurzer, Senior Manager of Benefits & Product Development, Alberta Blue Cross will discuss these two topics, the impact they have on benefit plans and future considerations for plan sponsors, advisors and members. Host: James Foremsky, Alberta Blue Cross.
