The Senior Defined Benefit Actuarial Consultant will sell and deliver customized retirement consulting services to both new and existing clients (medium or large) with an emphasis on implementation of non-standard and/or complex solutions. Participates in developing internal staff to ensure operational excellence and sharing intellectual capital. To fulfill this role, the consultant will:
• Drive client service delivery, resulting in the expansion of existing clients by incorporating intellectual capital generated within the business and introducing other lines of business and developing new intellectual capital
• Serve as a lead consultant on medium and large clients and/or second on jumbo clients; work on cross-geography retirement teams and projects
• Participate as a significant team member with respect to sales by driving new business proposals and extending the range of services provided to retirement and other lines of business' clients as appropriate
• Act as a mentor and coach by motivating staff to deliver a high standard of work through on-the-job training and development (for example, fosters a team environment, brings staff to client meetings, challenges technical growth and prepares staff to take on more senior roles with their clients)
• Lead and successfully manage strategic client projects by driving Mercer's project management best practices and providing timely direction and guidance to ensure deadlines and service standards are exceeded; ensure compliance with profession and Mercer standards
• Partner with local leadership on establishing realistic budgets and managing write-offs.
Exigences:
• Bachelor's degree in Math, Statistics, Actuarial Science, or a related field
• Minimum 10 years experience in benefits consulting with proven ability to sell and deliver retirement consulting services to senior business leaders
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to quickly build credibility and gain confidence in individuals at all levels
• Strong presentation skills
• Proven skills in leading large complex projects and managing client expectations
• Proven financial project management
• Fellow of the Society of Actuaries
