The Teachers' Retirement Allowances Fund (TRAF) administers the defined benefit pension plan for approximately 35,000 active, former and retired teachers in the public school system in Manitoba. Our organization is committed to providing exemplary service to our members.

Role Summary

The Supervisor, Member Services is responsible for providing support to the Vice President in strategy and goal setting within the Member Services department. The Supervisor oversees the day-to-day operations of the Member Services department, manages special projects and carries out various human resource functions.

Main Responsibilities

- Assist in identifying, developing and assessing departmental goals, objectives and strategies which guide the operation of the team on a short and long term basis
- Establish priorities to ensure delivery of prompt, accurate and consistent information to members
- Identify training needs; review and implement training plan to meet departmental goals
- Participate in the recruitment and performance review process
- Monitor the performance of the Member Services team with respect to the day-to-day operations and legislative compliance
- Resolve highly complex and sensitive cases in a collaborative environment
- Manage various projects
- Work with external partners including legal, actuarial and other professionals
- Develop and review communication materials
Exigences:
- Minimum of 5 years experience in defined benefit pension plan administration
- Strong leadership and supervisory skills
- Experience in project management
- Superior organizational skills with the ability to follow through
- Demonstrated ability in analysis and problem solving with the ability to effectively resolve member concerns
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with a strong member service focus
- Highly motivated with the ability to achieve results in an environment of high expectations, tight deadlines and changing priorities
- Extensive technical knowledge of pension and tax legislation
- Ability to review, interpret and implement pension policies, procedures and guidelines
- Mathematical proficiency
- Designation in CEBS, PPAC, CFP or equivalent education
