Alberta Corporate Human Resources, Edmonton. Alberta Corporate Human Resources (CHR) is the central human resources department of the Government of Alberta. CHR collaborates with ministries and facilitates the development of the government wide strategic human resource policies, programs and initiatives to attract, engage and develop a strong Alberta public service.

The Labour & Employment Practices Division of CHR supports corporate human resource management in the areas of pay, benefits, job evaluation, labour relations (including collective bargaining) and workplace health.

Are you looking for an opportunity to broaden your human resource experience and gain exposure to Labour Employment and Practices from a corporate perspective? Our Benefits unit within Corporate Human Resources has an exciting opportunity for you to gain invaluable experience in benefit plans, initiatives, and policies to meet the changing needs of the Alberta Public Service.

As a Benefits Consultant, your role is pivotal in developing policies and programs; managing complex issues; leading initiatives; consulting with ministries regarding issues and initiatives; and by undertaking accurate and timely research so that we can maintain an attractive benefits plan.

Key responsibilities of this role include leading the design, development, implementation and evaluation of policies and initiatives related to the group benefit plans.

Developing effective relationships with stakeholders and clients as well as providing effective consulting services are important aspects of this position. The position is also responsible for researching and sharing leading practice information from public and private sector employers and organizations. Well developed relationship building and communications skills are essential.

Salary: $2,936.39 to $3,951.53 bi-weekly (effective April 1, 2012). Closing Date: April 15, 2012. Job ID #1010367

This is a 1 year temporary opportunity with a possibility of extension. Candidates with lesser qualifications may be considered at a lower classification and salary. The successful candidate will be required to undergo a security screening. This competition may be used to fill current and future vacancies across government.

Qualifications:
- Related post-secondary and a minimum of 4 years experience working with group benefit programs and processes are required.
- Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate previous related work experience in policy development, program management, and project management.
-Related professional development is an asset. Equivalencies will be considered.
