Helping you feel protected and live well for over sixty-five years, GMS (Group Medical Services), Canada’s health and travel insurance expert, has an immediate career opportunity for an Underwriting Coordinator. In this role, you will gather information from clients and brokers and work with our underwriters to coordinate the quote and renewal process with our Sales Team.

Reporting to the Manager of Group Underwriting, you play a key role in liaising between internal and external teams involved in and contributing to the underwriting process, as well as managing the process to ensure we consistently meet our service standards.

Position Responsibilities

  • Consolidate quote and renewal documents from our Life Partners and our Underwriters to form a cohesive renewal package for the sales team.
  • Complete entry of the demographic data and plan design into the pricing model for those groups renewing.
  • Process renewal rates on a monthly basis and provide to the appropriate teams in a timely manner.
  • Manage the new sale process and ensure the quality and timeliness of all required materials.
  • Oversee and manage the group underwriting email box by responding, assigning, and/or following up with incoming inquiries.
  • Process benefit change forms when the client has requested a change to their current plan design, commission level, change in broker, or termination in their group benefits policy.
  • Create a monthly renewal list one to two months in advance so that all renewals are completed in a timely manner.
  • Run monthly reporting for those groups renewing.
  • Track all new quotes, sales and renewals to measure turnaround times, quote volume and new sales on a monthly basis.
  • Maintain and update this position’s procedure manual to ensure business continuity.

Education & Experience

  • Administrative Diploma or equivalent work experience.
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong skills in the Microsoft Office suite, particularly in Excel and Word.
  • Prior experience in Group Benefits or insurance related field would be considered a strong asset.
  • Prior experience in a service related role would be considered an asset.
  • Group Benefits Associate (GBA) designation or working towards completion is considered an asset.
