Account Representative – Employee Benefits Specialist

Position Summary: 

Provides marketing and administrative support to group Producers.  Services existing clients with their needs in Group Insurance, Group Retirement and Individual products. Focus on JLT’s digital administration platform BenPal.


  • Initiates, receives and responds to telephone calls and email correspondence from clients, answers questions, and provides information to support the sales process.
  • Liaises between clients and the respective insurance company for claims and coverage inquiries.
  • Efficiently processes renewals for client’s group insurance.
  • Requests alternate coverage on behalf of clients and reviews rate changes provided by insurance companies.
  • Reviews amendment documents and booklet changes received from insurance companies.
  • Gathers information to prepare market specifications and submits to the marketplace.
  • Compares marketing proposals received from the marketplace against the client’s current group coverage.
  • Reviews and discusses benefit proposals and market surveys with Producers and provides quality recommendations regarding terms and conditions obtained. 
  • Assists with the implementation of new policies and/or transfer of groups to a new insurance company, by gathering completed and signed paperwork including application forms, enrollment forms, signed policy documents etc., then submits to the insurance company.
  • Reviews contracts and booklets for accuracy.
  • Provides clients with quarterly claims experience.
  • Prepares PowerPoint presentations as necessary.
  • Prepares all Compliance documents for client files (LOL, CEM).
  • Updates client information in EPIC and manages all electronic contract files as required in the Client Management System.
  • Ensures professional competence and keeps abreast of changes within the industry by maintaining contacts both internally and externally and reviewing written material.
  • Follows JLT policies and procedures, including quality and client security procedures, as set out on the Company intranet and as amended from time to time.
  • Other miscellaneous duties as required.


  • Post-secondary education and/or CEBS courses preferred.
  • Knowledge of group insurance preferred.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and handle multiple files simultaneously.
  • Excellent knowledge of Word, Excel and functional working knowledge of PowerPoint an asset.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • BC Life Licensing will be required.
