The opportunity

Job Summary:  

The Manager, Claims Services oversees the daily operations of the four 3sHealth Disability Plans and works closely with participating employers, union representatives, regulating authorities, actuaries and external consultants regarding these plans. The Manager oversees a team responsible for providing disability claims management and return to work planning in support of better care, better health, better value and better teams in the provincial healthcare system. Our approach to case management is designed to ensure equitable, fair and timely administration of short term and long term disability claims. Through setting and monitoring the service standards of the department and ensuring quality at every step of the way, the Manager works closely with the team to remove barriers so that our plan members receive an appropriate and timely decision when applying for benefits. In an environment committed to continuous improvement, the Manager will use Lean tools to increase communication, perform root cause analysis and improve the work that we do for our customers.


What we’re looking for:


A minimum of five years of progressively responsible disability and/or benefit plan administration experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

A minimum of five years of experience as a manager or people leader.


Bachelor degree/diploma in Business Administration, Social Sciences, Nursing or a related field.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Ability to analyze complex situations and environments and produce workable and practical solutions;

Ability to build and maintain relationships based on trust, accountability and open communication;

Ability to learn new methodologies and apply those concepts in Lean improvement initiatives;

Ability to manage conflict in real time and focus on problem solving;

Ability to remain calm and focused during peak periods of activity, deadlines and stress and ensure deadlines are met;

Ability to work independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary team;

Excellent organizational abilities;

Working knowledge of general human resource, organizational development and financial management principles;

Knowledge of lean processes would be considered an asset.
