Jacques Attali

Professor, writer, Honorary Member of the Council of State, Special Adviser to the President of the Republic from 1981 to 1991, founder and first President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development in London from 1991 to 1993.

Jacques Attali (www.attali.com) is currently CEO of A&A, an international consulting firm (www.aeta.net) specialised in new technologies, based in Paris, and President of PlaNet Finance (www.planetfinance.org), an international non-profit organisation assisting microfinance institutions all over the world.
Jacques Attali has been nominated President of the Commission for the liberation for French economic growth by the President of the French Republic since August 2007.
Jacques Attali has a doctorate in Economics and is a graduate of the Ecole Polytechnique (first in the class of 1963). He has received honorary doctorates from several foreign universities and is a member of the Universal Academy of Cultures.
Jacques Attali is an editorialist for the magazine L’Express. He has written fifty books, translated into more than twenty languages, with over six million copies sold all over the world, including essays (dealing with a wide variety of subjects ranging from mathematical economics, to music), biographies, novels, children’s tales and plays.
He belongs to the top 100 public intellectuals in the world, according to the Foreign Policy Magazine (May/June 2008).

 


Don Drummond

Don Drummond is currently Matthews Fellow in Global Public Policy at Queen's University and Chair of the Commission on the Reform of Ontario Public Services. Don Drummond was born and raised in Victoria, British Columbia, where he graduated from the University of Victoria. He subsequently received his M.A. in Economics from Queen's University.

Don Drummond also holds an honorary doctorate from Queen's University. He joined the federal Department of Finance upon completing his studies at Queen's. During almost 23 years at Finance, Don Drummond held a series of progressively more senior positions in the areas of economic analysis and forecasting, fiscal policy and tax policy.
His last three positions were, respectively, Assistant Deputy Minister of Fiscal Policy and Economic Analysis, Assistant Deputy Minister of Tax Policy and Legislation and, most recently, Associate Deputy Minister. In this latter position Don Drummond was responsible for economic analysis, fiscal policy, tax policy, social policy and federal-provincial relations. In particular, Mr. Drummond co-ordinated the planning of the annual federal budgets.
From 2000 to 2010, Don Drummond served as Senior Vice President and Chief Economist, TD Bank. Mr. Drummond led TD Economics' work in analyzing and forecasting economic performance in Canada and abroad. TD Economics also analyzes the key policies that influence economic performance, including monetary and fiscal policies.



Stephen Jarislowsky

Stephen A. Jarislowsky started Jarislowsky, Fraser Limited in June of 1955 in Montreal. Now Chairman and Chief Executive Officer and former president of the firm, for 50 years he has directed the growth of the company to become one of the largest and most successful investment management firms in Canada.
Mr. Jarislowsky has been active in other corporations, participated in educational, cultural and charitable activities of many kinds, has endowed fourteen University Chairs and contributes frequently to television, radio, magazines and newspapers. He is a recipient of the Order of Canada, L’Ordre National du Québec, Honorary LL.D from Queens, University of Alberta, Université de Montréal, McMaster University, Concordia University, Assumption University as well as from L’Université Laval.



George Hoguet

George Hoguet is a Managing Director, Senior Portfolio Manager and Global Investment Strategist specializing in emerging markets at SSgA. He has been involved with the firm's Active Emerging Markets Strategy over the past thirteen years and is a member of the firm's Senior Management Group.
Previously, George Hoguet worked in London and Boston with the Chief Investment Officer of Baring Asset Management. He has also worked at the Frank Russell Company, Tacoma, WA, where he consulted to large institutional investors on a wide range of investment topics.

George Hoguet spent the first part of his career in emerging market and domestic corporate finance at Bankers Trust Company. From 1981-1985 he served at the U.S. Treasury Department, first as U.S. Alternate Executive Director to the World Bank and, subsequently, as Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Treasury for International Affairs.
George Hoguet is a graduate of Harvard College and Harvard Business School. He earned the Chartered Financial Analyst designation and is a qualified Financial Risk Manager.
His current and prior affiliations/directorships include: President: Boston Economic Club, Executive Committee of the Boston Committee on Foreign Relations, Executive Committee Boston Society of Security Analysts; Visiting Committee: Weatherhead Center for International Affairs at Harvard, Council on Foreign Relations, New York, New York and Board Member the Middle East Institute in Washington, DC. Among others, he has published in Emerging Markets Review, the Financial Times, and Pensions and Investments. He is an accredited speaker for the CFA Institute, Charlottesville, Va., and has presented at the National Bureau of Economic Research and other academic and industry fora.

 
Sami Aoun

Sami Aoun, Ph.D is a Professor at L’École de Politique appliquée of the University of Sherbrooke. Researcher at the Sodrus (Study of the Contemporary Religious Phenemenon), Associate Researcher at the Raoul-Dandurand Chair of Strategic and Diplomatic Studies, UQAM. His main research areas are the legitimacy of the political systems and conflicts in the Middle-East, the relationship between Islam and Modernity, as well as the analysis of the international order. He is editorialist in UdS Magazine on international affairs, as well as a political analyst in several programs on radio and television of Radio-Canada.
