Pension and Benefits Manager

Description:
The International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE) Local 115 is currently seeking a full-time Pension and Benefits Manager responsible for managing and overseeing large participant, multi-employer, defined benefit pension plans and group benefits programs.

The Pension and Benefits Manager will liaise with plan service providers, insurance companies, participating employers, plan members, the union and is accountable to the Board of Trustees.

Other responsibilities will include managing the pension and benefits administrative team, as well as managing the union’s portfolio of real estate holdings. This is a key role in the financial management and reporting, governance, and communication of IUOE 115’s retirement and benefits plans.

Requirements:
This position requires a strategic thinker, with a consultative approach, proven strong communication skills, the ability to influence, bring innovation, and best practices in pension and benefits programs in a union environment that will effectively retain our membership and attract the next generation of trades’ people.

The ideal candidate will have:

<ul>
<li>Significant experience working in a unionized environment, with a strong understanding of the collective bargaining process and member compensation structure
<li>10+ years of pension and benefits administration experience, ideally in a large, multi-employer, multi-province, Canadian defined benefit pension and health plan environment
<li>Certification in pension and benefits administration considered an asset, e.g. Pension Plan Administration Certificate (PPAC), Certificate in Employee Benefits (CEB), Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS), Retirement Plans Associate (RPA)
<li>University degree in business or a related field preferred (an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered)
</ul>
