Chief Investment Officer (5010)

Job Posting

Chief Investment Officer
Organization:  Provident10
Province:  Newfoundland and Labrador
Location:  St. John’s

Provident10 was established for joint management of the Public Service Pension Plan (PSPP or the Plan). An independent not-for-profit corporation, it transitioned out of the Newfoundland and Labrador Government on April 1, 2017 to deliver plan administration services and oversee the management of a $7 billion investment portfolio. During the transition to become an independent corporation, Provident10 focused on implementing new and best-in-class processes that leveraged its technological investments to better serve its 55,000 members and streamline supporting systems. With an ambitious mission, Provident10 governs the largest pension plan in the province and is positioning for growth.

Provident10 is now looking for a new Chief Investment Officer (CIO) to assist the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) in implementing its new and innovative strategic asset mix.  Responsible for the overall strategic leadership and operational execution of the investment management function, the new CIO will lead the investment management of PSPP funds, which includes regulatory and administrative accountabilities, performance management, research and analysis, asset allocation, risk and control protocols, and fund/vendor management. Working closely with the Board, Investment Committee, and the external service providers, the CIO will be a member of the Executive Team helping steward the future growth of the PSPP fund (the Fund).

This is a rare career-building opportunity to have provincial impact and play a leadership role in one of Canada’s most temperate and cultured cities: beautiful St. John’s, the capital of Newfoundland and Labrador.

Alternatively, you bring expertise as an astute and experienced financial executive with an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
