Description:
Funds Administrative Service Inc., a national employee benefits administration firm based in Edmonton, is seeking someone who is highly motivated, independent, well-organized and energetic to join our organization as a Pension Manager. As the Pension Manager, you will oversee the day to day operations of the Pension department and directly manage 3 - 4 pension analysts. You will also be responsible for the development and implementation of processes and procedures to enhance the overall quality of service being provided to clients of various defined benefit and defined contribution pension plans.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Review eligibility and benefit calculations and ensure they are prepared within established company service standards
Manage a team of 3 - 4 pension analysts and ensure service standards with respect to accuracy and turnaround are consistently met
Interact with the management team to achieve company goals and targets
Ensure administrative procedures are in compliance with legislative requirements
Oversee the financial reconciliation of monthly and interim payments to pensioners and beneficiaries
Coordinate the production of inquiry and application status reports, in accordance with pre-determined schedules
Compile statistical data for the purposes of actuarial valuations and annual member and termination statements
Modify procedures, forms and calculations to comply with amendments to pension plans
Liaise with external parties such as consultants and legal counsel as necessary
Act as Client Service Executive and liaise with Boards of Trustees for multi-employer pension plans, including meeting participation, meeting minute preparation and coordination of completion of action items resulting from meetings
Requirements:
5 or more years of experience in a related field
Post-secondary Degree or College Diploma or equivalent experience
Completion of CEBS designation or courses leading to CEBS would be an asset
Proficient working knowledge of Microsoft Office with a focus on spreadsheet skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Be able to meet competing priorities and multiple deadlines without compromising quality
Must possess strong mathematical and analytical skills
Fluency in French, both written and verbal, would be a valuable asset but is not a requirement of the position
