Pension Analyst

The Financial Services Commission of Ontario (FSCO) is seeking an individual with proven organizational and analytical skills, and sound knowledge of pension legislation and financial analysis principles to review defined contribution pension plans text, legal documents, financial data and submissions in order to assess legislative compliance with the Pension Benefits Act and Regulations.

What can I expect to do in this role?

As a Pension Analyst, you will:
• Progressively acquire in-depth knowledge and experience in pension plan legislation and regulations;
• Review and analyze Defined Contribution submissions by pension stakeholders to ensure compliance with the Ontario Pension Benefits Act, regulations, FSCO's policies and procedures;
• Working in a team and/or independently perform desk reviews on an assigned allocation of pension plans, ensuring work plan objectives and timelines are met;
• Provide technical information and guidance to the public, financial institutions and pension stakeholders related to the interpretation and application of requirements of pension legislation, regulations, FSCO policies and business standards in Ontario.

How do I qualify?

Technical Knowledge:

• You have knowledge of Ontario pension legislation and regulations.
• You have knowledge and understanding of the various requirements involved with regulating pension plans.
• You have knowledge and experience of the operation of pension plans.
• You have ability and experience in interpreting legislation and policies related to the regulation of regulated financial service sectors/industries.

Research, Analytical and Organizational skills:

• You have ability to work independently or as part of a team/teams relating to different activities.
• You have ability to multi-task and work on various activities with competing priorities.
• You have research, investigative and assessment skills to research routine, unique and complex compliance issues, receive inquiries and in response gather related information/data from a broad range of sources.
• You have skill/experience in analyzing information and preparing comprehensive case reports.
• You have experience in making sound analytical assessments, decisions and recommendations.
• You have organizational skills and the ability to make timely independent decisions in a high volume and fast-paced work environment.

Communication, Judgment & Customer service:

• You have knowledge and skills of effective oral and written communication principles and methods.
• You have customer service and consultation skills with experience in effectively responding to inquiries from consumers, stakeholders and other parties.
• You have skills in exercising judgment, based on sound principles/facts.
• You have knowledge of writing and editing principles, practices, styles and techniques in preparing briefing notes and complex correspondence.
• You have knowledge/skill in computer applications including word processing.

Salary Range: $939.40 - $1,194.70 per week
