The mental health of Canadians has been significantly lower than prior to the COVID-19 pandemic! The level of mental health continues to be a concern as it indicates that the working population is currently as distressed as the most distressed one per cent of working Canadians, prior to 2020! Join us for this session as Paula Allen talks to the impact lockdowns have had on employer programs and how those programs have been able to support clients during this pandemic.

Global Leader and Senior Vice-President, Research and Total Wellbeing

In her role at Morneau Shepell, Paula manages the primary research, exploratory data science, research collaborations and meta-analyses. She also leads Morneau Shepell’s thought leadership and is co-chair of the organization’s product and innovation strategy.

Paula is focused on the current and emerging issues that impact health and productivity and related costs, including all areas of wellbeing – social, physical, financial and mental. She is also a well-recognized expert in all areas of workplace mental health, learning strategies, disability management and drug plan management. She is currently Morneau Shepell’s business response and resource lead for the COVID-19 pandemic and works directly with many of Canada’s leading organizations.

Paula is a member of various boards including the Women’s College Hospital’s Board of Directors, the Virtual Learning Advisory Board, as well as the co-chair of Civic Action’s Champions Council on workplace mental health and several research and strategy advisory boards that address issues ranging from e-mental health solutions to substance abuse in the workplace.

Paula completed undergraduate and graduate degrees in psychological research and neuropsychological testing and clinical intervention and has more than 20 years of experience relating to workplace research, product development and operational leadership.
